About Andrei

Andrei Saltykov (born Moscow, 1974) took his architecture degree at the Moscow Architectural Institute between 1991 and 1997. From 1993, he worked as an architecture assistant at ABD, one of the very best private architecture practices in Russia. After graduating with honours in 1997, he received the prestigious Chevening Scholarship for postgraduate study in the UK, as well as a special Queen’s Award. In 2003 after completing his professional studies with commendation, he became a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Andrei completed his masters’ degree at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, where he was taught by Peter Cook. Shortly afterwards, he joined Richard Rogers Partnership (RRP, now Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners). At RRP he worked on Madrid Barajas Airport, winner of the 2006 Stirling Prize. He was subsequently made an Associate, working on many of the practice’s high-profile projects in the UK, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia.

After working and living in Washington DC, Andrei joined Foster + Partners in 2006 to work on the Russia Tower, Moscow City, in the position of Associate Partner. Upon completion of the project, he joined the boutique design practice Johnson Naylor in London, specialising in residential projects. In 2008 he returned to RSHP where his work focussed on projects in Russia and Australia.

In 2011 he established Lacey & Saltykov Architects in London with Andrei Saltykov. Their first completed project was a new-build pair of semidetached houses in Wimbledon. The houses have been published in the national and international press and are award winning. They have recently completed their second project, a new house in Cornwall. The practice has worked on a diverse range of projects from new offices to university buildings. Following their success in a limited competition for Wimbledon College of Art they are now part of the framework of consultants for UAL.

Recent commissions range from a new 300,000 sq ft office building in Farringdon, to an apartment block in Enfield.
