Urbano Build is an active and important part of Urbano, as 9% of the UK workforce works in construction , it contributes 7% of UK GDP, but is also responsbible for 40% of all UK greenhouse gas emissions.

For our July Urbano Build speaker breakfast, we will be joined by Jonathan Smales, Founder & CEO of Human Nature.

Human Nature is a new-generation sustainable developer, with ambitious plans to reform how residential spaces and housing developments are created. Human Nature’s first project, the Phoenix neighbourhood in Lewes, East Sussex, fulfils the ambition to create whole places not housing estates, with innovations in in construction and infrastructure that speed up delivery and with the aim to cultivate dynamic local communities.

Our speaker is Jonathan Smales, ex MD of Greenpeace and Founder & CEO of Human Nature. With over 30 years in sustainable development, Jonathan is a visionary leader in sustainable design and urbanism. Jonathan has advised cities, regeneration agencies, government agencies and blue chip private clients, helping shape schemes for over 100,000 homes.

Jonathan will share with us how Human Nature is leading the way in sustainable housing and place development, and how SMEs, including Urbano members, helping deliver the project as part of Human Nature's supply chain.
