"Sustainable procurement" – what does it mean and how can a contracting authority achieve it? Following on from our innovation in sustainability event, join us for the first webinar of four focused on sustainable procurement and how the planning stage can be used to its maximum potential to drive home organisational priorities in the environmental and social space.
Sustainable procurement is a mindset focused on the whole lifecycle and the environmental and social impacts of purchasing activity. It requires buy-in from the top down, and an acceptance that immediate costs should not be the primary driver for decisions. So when contracting authorities across the country are facing increased budgetary pressures and resource scarcity how can procurement professionals drive such a mindset forward?
The webinar will cover in particular:
- What is Sustainable Procurement?
- "Green targets" – what are they? Do I know my Green House Gas and Net Zero terminology?
- How can my organisation develop (or improve) a sustainability strategy?
- How can I embed a sustainability strategy into procurement on both a strategic and procurement-specific level?
- How do I get the balance right? What is proportionate?
This webinar is for commercial and procurement professionals across the public sector and aims to facilitate the sharing of best practice. The session will be delivered by Trowers & Hamlins colleagues in the Public Procurement and Energy and Sustainability teams.
