Speaker panel networking breakfast on Procurement Act 2024

Trowers & Hamlins LLP

Urbano has been connecting companies, especially those that run them, since we ran our first networking community in Shoreditch in the early 2000's.

Since then, we have hosted numerous speaker events on different topics, including sustainability & ESG, WELL & BREEAM, BIM, Blockchain and AI etc, all from the perspective that good, early knowledge and making the right connections can give smaller companies and their leadership teams a strategic and competitive advantage.

We produce a weekly tenders list where we find and distribute opportunities for SMEs to bid for work from organisations within the public sector. We also host events with large companies, like Mace, AECOM and ARUP, to act as a catalyst to opportunities to become part of supply chains and help members win work on public projects in transport, infrastructure, construction, software and design.

The new Procurement Act becomes law this year and promises to deliver the biggest changes in recent times to the way the public sector procures its services, including more contracts promised to SMEs.

Our event will examine three key areas:
- How will the new flexible procurement regime work in practice?
- How will the new act help SMEs win more places on supply chains and work through direct tendering?
- The role of social value in new procurement landscape

On our panel will be Rebecca ReesHead of Public Procurement at Trowers & Hamlins, who will provide an overview of the new regime; Caroline BrockDirector of Urbano Network & Talent Lab, who works with a variety of large and small clients to help them win work through the public sector and Matthew Grenier from HACT, the social housing charity and social value pioneers. Facilitating this interactive session will be Mark Herring, Urbano's Connector-In-Chief.

There is too little engagement between those organisations which publish ITTs and SMEs which have to respond to them. We want this event to bring both sides of procurement together to share their experiences and discuss how to make tendering less onerous and more efficient.

* This free event is for:

  • Senior bid managers and directors from in-house procurement teams within large companies and organisations
  • Directors of companies in technical services such as IT, data, construction etc looking to explore opportunities to supply the public sector
  • Urbano members with responsibilities for tendering in their companies
