About JOANNA
Joanna founded Langstaff Day Architects with Nicholas Langstaff in 2015. Prior to this she worked for small practices in London and Manchester followed by ten years at Nicholas Hare Architects, a leading London practice.
Joanna has led projects ranging from award-winning progressive new build schools to complex retrofit projects to small scale residential extensions. At LDA, Joanna has been instrumental in the development of clients’ briefs, the gaining of planning permission in difficult locations, and the delivery of high quality new build and refurbishment schemes. Joanna specialises in sustainable design in the residential, education and cultural sectors and loves working with clients to realise their dream projects.
Believing that practice and teaching are mutually beneficial activities, Joanna spent a number of years as a Studio Design Tutor at Liverpool University, where she trained. She is an Examiner for the Royal Institute of British Architects Part 3 Course, which leads to the final professional qualification in architecture. Joanna also enjoys writing and has regularly contributed to journals such as Building Design and the Architects’ Journal, as well as reviewing for the London Society.
In her spare time, Joanna loves to draw and paint – and not always buildings!
