The Building Society

This networking breakfast & speaker event is designed to bring companies from across our BuildUWACTE and Zero Carbon communities to meet, connect and share knowledge to deliver real company actions in the fight against climate change.

For over 10 years (and longer if you include our beginnings in Shoreditch) our focus at Urbano has been to connect companies so they can find areas where they can collaborate, improve each other as businesses and business people, and find new opportunities.

Collaboration is at the heart of Urbano and is a key part of tackling climate change, but in a competitive system, this can be a difficult pathway to negotiate. This latest Urbano networking breakfast event will bring together those who want to go further and faster with their own company's carbon reduction programmes as well as helping their clients achieve net zero carbon reduction targets.

This event will feature the themes and research in the new book, Energy | People | Buildings - Making Sustainable Architecture Work.

This book is for anyone who wants to better understand how energy is used in buildings, and how to drive down operational energy use.

Energy, People, Buildings draws extensively on the findings of studies, UK government-funded building performance evaluations and on original research into seven case studies from across the UK and abroad that have achieved exemplary energy use through building performance feedback.

We are delighted that one of its authors, Judit Kimpian, will join us to talk us through their research and key findings.

Dr Judit Kimpian is an architect and environmental policy expert. During 20 years in practice, including 5 years as Director of Sustainable Architecture and Research at AHR, Judit was responsible for major international design projects and numerous performance studies of buildings. Judit teaches low-energy architecture and planning at UC and is a frequent speaker at international conferences.
